Hi there!
I am Melissa Harms.
I am so excited to start my 14th year coaching club volleyball! The first 4 years I coached for Fireballs Volleyball Club and the past 9 plus this year, have been at Midwest Juniors. Besides just coaching club, I also coach at the high school level. I am currently the head high school volleyball coach at West Franklin High School. I started my volleyball coaching career there as an assistant for 3 years, then went to Leavenworth High School for one year, and then for the past 9 years I have been back at West Franklin. This will be my 6th year as the Head Coach at West Franklin. As for my playing days, I was a 4 year varsity starter at West Franklin and finished 2nd in the state of Kansas for single season kills my senior year (2007) and still currently hold the record at West Franklin for most kills in a single season. After high school I continued to play at the collegiate level for a Division I school in Louisiana (Centenary College), but after 2 years there I transferred to play at the University of Arkansas-Monticello where I graduated in 2012 with a Degree in Business Administration and minor in Spanish. I then went on to pursue a degree in Secondary Education and completed my Master's in Teaching in 2017. I will begin my 12th year of teaching 6-12 Business and Technology at West Franklin along with coaching volleyball.I live in Lawrence with my husband, Ben, and two boys, Liam (5.5yo), and Luke(3.5yo)! We absolutely love the Jayhawks, Chiefs, and Royals! In my spare time I like to workout at Jazzercise, play volleyball (indoor and sand), binge on reality tv, go shopping, and have dance parties with my boys :)
